True Crime Audiobooks – Finders Keepers

Due to the amazing advances in modern technology that have occurred during the last years of the twentieth century, and the first years of the twenty first, it is now possible to enjoy entertainment in many more ways than before.

The quality of audio and video on modern digital media far exceeds anything from the analog past. Another massive benefit enjoyed by today's consumer is portability. With the units used to play modern audio and video media now able to fit into even a small pocket, anyone can now enjoy sound or video recordings virtually anywhere.

Even the printed word is now far more accessible to a vastly increased number of people, due to the development of the audiobook.

It is now possible to be entertained and informed by books without the need for any reading, due to the ease with which people can now download spoken versions of these books from the internet. Among these digitally downloadable books is a series of True Crime Audiobooks. One of the most fascinating, albeit extremely sad, of these is “Finders Keepers”, written by Mark Bowden.

This is the true story of an unemployed dock worker from Philadelphia who, unbelievably, actually found a million dollars in used notes on the street! The notes were contained in a yellow box. These used notes were the revenues from a local casino, and had fallen off the back of an armored truck.

This crime book reads like an exaggerated Hollywood film, but every word of it is documented and true. Joey Coyle, the unemployed poverty stricken dock laborer who found it, began spending the money recklessly. He wasn't entirely stupid, however, and tried to elicit the help of a local gangland boss in an attempt to launder the money.

Sadly Coyle, and the friends who were driving the vehicle when they drove past the yellow box on the road, were drug addicts, and Coyle spent much of the next seven days in a drug fuelled frenzy, at the same time planning his life as a rich man, and quaking in fear at the thought of being captured and killed by the true owners of the money.

This is a true story that will make every reader reach inside of themselves. Yes, what would you do if it happened to you?

It is easy to say that you are a good honest citizen and would not steal money, but how do you really know? What if you were in serious trouble with debt? What if you had a family member who was suffering with illness, and in pain, and an expensive operation could cure them?

Rarely will you find a True Crime Audiobook as thought provoking as this one.
